curly Leaf pondweed toolkit

The Curly Leaf Pondweed (CLPW) Toolkit below is actively being developed and will be finalized in time for the 2026 season. We are currently reviewing our lessons learned, outcomes, and experiences from previous years  — and having conversations with other organizations — to help shape and refine what’s here.

Thank you for your patience while we fine-tune things.

🔄About This Toolkit

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all manual—it’s a living, evolving resource system designed to grow with the lake, the seasons, and the community. CLPW is persistent, but so are we. This Toolkit was built to support lake care that’s:

  • Seasonal: CLPW behaves differently throughout the year. Our guidance adapts to its lifecycle, so residents know when and how to act.

  • Adaptable: Whether you're pulling weeds, spotting fragments, or supporting a neighbor, the Toolkit meets you where you are.

  • Neighbor-powered: Some residents may be ready to dive in with rakes and tarps; others may not be able to—but they can still call, ask for help, and keep an eye on their shoreline. Every contribution counts.

Many communities rely on chemical treatments to manage CLPW, but Twin Lakes has chosen a different path—one rooted in shared responsibility, ecological respect, and hands-on care.

Non-chemical control takes coordination, and it only succeeds when we act as a community.

Together, we can stay ahead of CLPW and ensure our lakes—and the landscape around them—stay healthy for generations to come.

📬 Coming This Spring

Every household will receive the CLPW Manual Removal Dockside Guide—a quick-start resource designed to help you:

  • Identify CLPW

  • Remove it safely

  • Report sightings from docks, beaches, or shared shorelines

The guide includes QR codes linking directly to this Toolkit, so you can dive deeper whenever you're ready. Both the guide and the Toolkit are smartphone-ready for dockside use, so you can identify, report, and respond to CLPW right from the water’s edge.

The guide is designed for easy sharing and offline use, while this Toolkit provides deeper guidance, updated materials, and flexible tools for every kind of lake resident.

🔁 Built to Evolve

Because this is a community-powered effort, we’ll keep expanding the Toolkit as seasons shift and new insights emerge. We update materials regularly to reflect:

  • Weather shifts that affect pulling plans and safety

  • Growth patterns and lifecycle changes

  • New outbreaks or regrowth zones

  • Community feedback and volunteer observations

That’s why most resources live here—online, modular, and ready to evolve with your input and the lake’s changing needs.

🌐 Access for All

We know not everyone is tech-savvy or comfortable navigating online resources—and that’s okay. This Toolkit is designed to be accessible in multiple formats so that everyone can participate, regardless of internet access or digital comfort.

If you prefer printed materials or need help using the Toolkit, just reach out to TLPOA or TLWQC. We’ll make sure you have what you need—whether that’s a mailed copy, a quick reference, or help with reporting and seasonal updates.

And if you’d like a hand from a neighbor, our Volunteer Support Team is here to help—whether it’s walking through the materials, assisting with monitoring, or helping with manual CLPW removal from individual docks when needed.
