Love the Lake? Let’s Learn How to Protect it! Join us for a hands-on workshop & outdoor walkabout. Location: The Proce Property. For more information: bproce70@gmail.com
Coffee, tea, bagels & baked treats provided!
Living lakeside is a gift—but it also means we’re the lake’s first line of defense. The good news? You don’t need a degree in environmental science to make a difference.
Join us for a fun, hands-on event with Rachel Morrow from the Delaware Highlands Conservancy, who’ll lead us through an engaging conversation and property walk focused on watershed health and smart land management.
We’ll kick things off with coffee, tea, and baked goods, as Rachel gives us an overview on riparian buffers and watersheds, then we will head outdoors to explore the Proce property, a real-life example of the land and water challenges many of us face—runoff, erosion, mowing near the shoreline—and the practical solutions they’re planning to use to restore and protect their landscape.
You’ll see up close how strategies like:
Rain gardens & meadow creation
Native planting & buffer restoration
Swales, rain barrels, and more
…can be used to tackle common issues and make a big impact.
This isn’t just another talk—it’s a chance to ask real questions, see real examples, and come away with real tools to help protect our lake. Like:
Why does my driveway wash out after storms—and what can I do about it?
Can I clear brush near the shoreline, or should I leave it?
What’s a buffer zone, and do I need one?
Are native plants really low-maintenance?
Can I still have a view and protect the water?
Whether you're new to the lake or have lived here for decades, this workshop will help you see your property—and its role in the bigger watershed picture—in a whole new way.
Let’s dig in, get curious, and take meaningful steps—together—to keep our lake beautiful for years to come.
